What does the world look like when you can't trust anything you see or hear?

We already live in a world where the "news" media feed rivers of manipulated and selectively highlighted slop.

"Initially it will feel like cheating, but if we win, nobody will think this is cheating..."

AI is amplifying this trend. The net effect will be an erosion of trust. At some point, we will have to turn to people or trusted agents who can vouch for the veracity of everything we see. Like a notary.

Consider the cost / benefit tally of AI technologies: who reaps the benefit, and who pays the cost?
